of heroes and anti-heroes

so the ‘heroes’ flew into town as part of a whirlwind tour through the region, and they left as swiftly. i was supposed to meet my brother and some friends at vivocity yesterday to catch the appearance of part of the cast as well as the creator of the hit tv series ‘heroes’, but i decided to have an extended afternoon nap instead. according to my bro, i didn’t miss much. there were the usual screaming and fanfare that have come to characterise events like these. besides, the stars only appeared for about 20 mins, during which my bro managed to take some pictures, with the one below being my favourite. what i like about this candid shot is that it caught sendhil ramamurthy (mohinder suresh) and ali carter (niki/jessica sanders) sharing a casual moment. anyway, he made an interesting comment about how ali larter looked so flawless that she appeared to have just escaped from madame tussaud’s. for more of my bro’s pics, click here.

now for the antithesis. the video you are about to watch was shot during a ‘black hats’ (computer hackers who use their skills for unscrupulous gains, compare with ‘white hats‘) conference in las vegas, nevada on august 3 – 5 this year. the annual conference, known as ‘defcon‘, offers a chance for black hats from all over the world to get together and pit their abilities against each other. an nbc reporter (the lady you will see being publicly humiliated and escorted away), was originally offered an official press pass, but she turned it down because she had hoped to catch the hackers breaking laws which would have led to a bigger story for her. listen out for shouts of ‘strangle her!’ i can’t say that i feel sorry for her. she could have just accepted the press pass. who is/are the anti-hero(es)? you decide.

  4. probably. the hackers actually found out about her and her scheme beforehand which was why they offered her a press pass. she still tried to go ‘undercover’ at the conference despite that. not very smart.
