basketball & the biennale
the 2 b-words as seen in the title of the post dominated my day.
i was down at kampong ubi cc in eunos helping cover a basketball tournament organised by a magazine called ‘jumpshot’. good to pick up some pointers on shooting basketball from my friend and fellow photographer joel.
funny thing is although basketball and photography are 2 of the great loves in my life, they have never converged until today. sure, playing basketball comes easy to me and photography too. but SHOOTING basketball certainly is not easy. i must say, it really takes real technical ability and lots of practice to hone the art and science of sports photography. i have new-found respect for sports photographers, especially those who consistently produce amazing work.
in the afternoon it was off to the singapore biennale at city hall with sarah, who came up with the brilliant idea to go see it. i had a fantastic time exploring the city hall exhibition with her (she is a real joy to be with), as well as giving my take on the exhibits in pictorial form, no less. enjoy the photos.
for those of you who are interested, the singapore biennale runs until the 16th of the month. visit the official website for more information by clicking here. me and sarah got the $5 pass (student price) that allows us to view the works on display at city hall as well as the south beach development, which we will go to another day.
yeah, so those are the selects from the day. as we left the building, we saw this unidentified british/scottish guy leaning out from the stands set up for the rugby sevens at the padang. he was cuddling a balloon sheep.
i raised my camera from a distance to shoot and he gamely posed. so i went closer and got this.
he gave sarah a balloon (which we eventually released into the air) and we asked him about his synthetic mate. he explained that the sheep’s name is dolly, and she was one of his five wives. apparently, dolly was cloned and is the dirtiest of the lot.
i simply love conversation that has beer thrown into the equation.
