stumbled upon this video on james danziger’s blog today.
this is the remarkable story of how 2 young australians in 1969 bought a lion cub from harrods in london (yes, they sold such things in the past), raised it and then reintroduced it back into the wild when it got too big, with the help of conservationist george adamson (the half-naked man who appears at 1:43).
3 years later, christian the lion, fully grown and the head of his own pride, was reunited with john rendall and anthony burke.
a truly sentient being, this lion.
oh, and it’s true that this video is not the same without the whitney houston song.
